Ooty which is popularly known as "Queen of Hill Station" is one of the main tourist spots in South India. Surrounded by the picturesque view and lush greenery Ooty is located in the Western Ghats at an altitude of 2240meters.
Ooty is the headquarters of the Nilgiri District. The temperatures range from 25 to 10 degree Celsius during summer and 21 - 5 degree Celsius during winter.

• The best time to inflict Ooty is from September to June. The town can be reached by road or rail. The nearest airport to Ooty is Coimbatore.
• There are many numerous tourist spots to inflict. The main tourist attraction is Government Botanical Garden. The Garden spread over 22 hectares has several numbers of trees, flowering plants. Fully surrounded by lush greenery Government Botanical Garden is always an evergreen place to inflict.
• The Doddbetta is the second highest peak in South India at an altitude of 2619. It is just 10 km from Ooty town. It is a breathtaking place and gives an eye-catching a view of the entire Ooty town. This peak is the best place for trekkers and photographers.
• Ooty Lake which is also known as Boathouse is easily accessible from Ooty town. The lake provides the facility like boating and other rides. There is also another lake near Pykara. In Pykara also boating facility is available. Not only are these there are several other renowned tourist spots there.

• Pykara Lake and Pykara Boathouse: Ooty, also known as "Blue Mountains" is the favorite tourist destinations in South Asia. There are various options for sightseeing in Ooty. One of the most popular tourist places is Pykara Lake and Boat House. Situated about 231 kilometers from the main town, Pykara River is the largest in the region. Eucalyptus tree surroundings, grassy meadows are the special attractions of this lake. Boating is a special feature. Speed Boats and Motor Boats to avail from. • Ooty Toy Train: Ooty train is one of the most popular world heritage site built by the British people in the year 1908.The toy train is a must experience journey in Ooty. This excellent Mountain Train has been operating from Mettupalayam to Ooty, Ooty to Coonoor and vice versa. The toy train crosses tunnels, curves, bridges and beautiful sceneries throughout the journey gives an awesome and thrilling experience. • Sim’s Park: Sim's park is a famous park cum Botanical Garden located at Coonoor in Nilgiri District. This park has named after Mr.J.D.Sim, who has developed this garden in 1874.This huge park spread over acres of land contains different varieties of flower plants and trees. The rare and old trees which are brought from a variety of places around the world are the main feature of this garden. There is a small lake inside the park where one can avail boating. This picturesque garden is the best place to sit and relax and it is the best picnic spot for the students and botanist. This garden also has ornamental plants and flowers.
• Mudumalai: Mudumalai National Park also declared as Tiger Reserve, lies on the north-western side of the Blue Mountains Ooty.It is located at the tri-junction of Tamilnadu, Kerala and Karnataka. The sanctuary covers an area of 321 sq.km in that National Park area is 108 sq. km. The most spotted animals are Deer, Monkeys, Peacock and Elephant. It is also an exciting place where you can see rare varieties of birds too. Thirteen percent of all mammal species in India are present in Mudumalai wildlife sanctuary. There are 266 species of birds in this Sanctuary and it has found that around 8 % of the bird species in India were found in Mudumalai Sanctuary.

Season in Ooty

Ooty the hill station always bears a clement and pleasing climate throughout the year. When you are looking for the leisure trip then it's better to be aware of the climate before you make a plan to inflict Ooty. The best time to visit Ooty is from September to June.

• Monsoon season in Ooty prevails from July to September. This is the peak monsoon months where the hill station receives heavy downpour and thus interrupt the sightseeing in Ooty. But best season to click many snaps, you can get the best snaps during this season.
• Winter season in Ooty starts from October to February. December and January are the peak winter season the temperature will be around 5 to 10. The second season in Ooty starts from October to February. There will be a little shower and you can enjoy your sightseeing without any disrupt.
• Summer season in Ooty begins from March to June. The weather will be pleasant during these months.
• The peak season also starts from March month where you can expect several numbers of tourists. You can also enjoy all type of summer festival during the month of May. You can blissfully move for the day as there will be no interruption during this season.

Festivals Celebrated in Ooty

Ooty is a beautiful place located in the state of Tamilnadu attracts a large number of tourists each year. As another part, it has a multitude of festivals celebrated each year. Most of these festivals are conducted during the summer.

• Summer festival in Ooty is conducted during the May month, which is an added attraction to the tourists as well. Events during the Ooty Summer festival include Flower show
• Fruit show, Rose show, Dog show, Vegetable show.
• Flower show attracts a large number of tourists which are held May month in Botanical Garden each year. Tourist can see a variety of cultural programmes and the flower will be displayed across the garden.
• Rose show is held at Government Rose garden, the garden will have more than 3000 varieties of roses. It will be usually held in the second week of May.
  Fruit show is conducted in Sim's park, Coonoor. It is usually held in the last week of May
• The dog show is held at the Government Arts College in Ooty. This show is organized by the South of India Kennel Club.
• The vegetable show is conducted at Nehru Park Kotagiri. Different types of carving are done using the vegetable and displayed.
• The annual Tea and tourism festival in Ooty are another three-day tourist festival which is held in the month of January. It is organized by Tamilnadu Tourism department and the Ministry of tourism. The objective is to promote the Nilgiri tea industry. Dance, Music and other cultural programs are conducted during this festival. Visitors can inflict the tea gardens, tea factories and buy varieties of teas.

Some of the other festivals celebrated in Ooty are Boat race, photo and painting exhibition and religious festivals like Thaipoosam in Elk Hill temple in February, Ooty and Coonoor Mariamman festival in April month.
